Eclipse and Android

Posted on: May 13, 2011

follow instructions to install eclipse, adt, ant, ruby etc from android developer site. you may still need to do some extra steps to make everything work.

1. build targets empty when creating a new android project

–> did not set preferences for the android sdk location inside eclipse

2. no emulator shows up after a long wait

–> b/c there is an already connected android device on the usb bus

–> adb devices will tell you what devices are currently connected.

3. no options in the run menu except ‘external tools’

–> make sure you open up a src file, instead of an asset file

4. a resource is out of sync with file system

–> happens when i edit a file outside of eclipse. right click on the file and choose refresh
