.bashrc and .bash_profile

This article details the difference between the two files.

In short, .bash_profile is executed for a login shell but not an interactive shell. While .bashrc is executed for each interactive shell, but not login shell.

This is why sometimes when I login into other machines but my favorite aliases are not there.

The solution is to source .bashrc inside .bash_profile.
